Bradley Cooper and his sister Jennifer Lawrence have been adopted together after Bradley recovered from a serious illness at Best Friends’ Salt Lake City adoption centre. The charity’s report, published on 23 October, describes veterinary care followed by a foster placement that reunited the kittens.

Bradley, a tiny black kitten, had arrived from a shelter several hours away. He was unresponsive, underweight and dehydrated, with dangerously low body temperature and blood sugar. Best Friends’ veterinary team used an incubator and treatment to stabilise him. He could not eat independently, so caregivers fed him by syringe. The charity describes an uncertain early period before he began regaining strength. Best Friends identifies his illness as fading kitten syndrome.

Once Bradley was eating for himself, he moved into foster care. Waiting there was Jennifer, a calico kitten from the same litter. She was much bigger, but the pair began playing and wrestling as Bradley continued to recover with their foster family.

Their adopter was an acquaintance of the foster volunteers who had fallen in love with both kittens and decided to take the pair home.
