Choose by the shape, access and installation your site needs: a larger floor area alone does not explain the premium. Leave space for furnishings and cleaning routes in either. Do not mistake the Omlet size label for exact metres. Equally, ProtectaPet’s £800 base option is a different purchase from its £1,400 gated version. If the human entrance is an existing house door, a gate-free arrangement may make sense; a standalone enclosure still needs an entrance. It also cautions that restricting a cat already used to roaming may cause frustration. A catio should suit the individual cat, not simply fit the garden. Omlet’s [support guidance](https://www.omlet.co.uk/shop/cat%5Fproducts/catios-outdoor-cat-enclosures/support/?ref=catstandard.co.uk) distinguishes its tunnel connection from direct attachment: it does not offer a ready-made solution for fixing this run straight to the house and advises speaking to a specialist. Price the complete route from your chosen window or cat flap, including connectors and any supports. A tunnel shown in a photograph is not automatically in the enclosure box. ProtectaPet’s product guidance allows two-, three- or four-sided arrangements by choosing which sides to mesh. This makes it worth investigating for a patio beside the house. Confirm how the wall junction, ground and door openings will be enclosed for your particular layout. Leaving one side unmeshed only works when that boundary is properly completed. Draw the human route as well. Can you open the house door, enter with a watering can and reach the far corner without moving everything? Check the current clear doorway dimensions with the supplier if you need to move furniture through. “Walk-in” does not promise that your chair walks in with you. ## What will the finished setup cost? Do not assume a shelf from one enclosure system attaches correctly to another. ## Assembly, maintenance and returns Read the instructions before deciding the build is a Saturday morning job. Omlet provides [assembly manuals, videos and a spare-parts catalogue](https://www.omlet.co.uk/shop/cat%5Fproducts/catios-outdoor-cat-enclosures/support/?ref=catstandard.co.uk). Match the instructions to the version supplied. Its support advice also calls for regular corrosion checks, particularly after coating damage or in demanding conditions. “No maintenance” on a sales page is not a reason to stop inspecting an enclosure. ProtectaPet lists a six-to-eight-hour build estimate for this kit, alongside a tools list and [product manuals](https://protectapet.com/pages/product-manuals?ref=catstandard.co.uk). Treat that as the supplier’s estimate, not our measured build time. Its fitting guidance requires protection of cut post ends if posts are shortened. Confirm the installation method and tools before ordering; budget for professional help if the proposed work is outside your skills. Inspect panels or mesh, joins, closures, the base and the house connection regularly, following the instructions. Ask the supplier whether the proposed layout suits your cat’s size and behaviour, site and exposure to other animals. The returns terms differ usefully.
