Senior cat Bae finds comfort in foster care after dental treatment

A Best Friends update describes Bae eating, exploring and seeking affection again, with continuing support for her sore mouth.

Senior cat Bae is eating, exploring and seeking affection again after dental treatment and a move into foster care. In an update published on 8 October, Best Friends Animal Society describes her progress at its sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, and with foster carers Andrea Kraus and Mike Lorrig.

Bae’s previous shelter asked for help when she was losing weight. At the sanctuary, the veterinary team found painful inflammation in her mouth. Dental treatment included removing some teeth; a second procedure followed before she went into foster care.

Andrea and Mike had met her while volunteering. When Bae needed somewhere quiet to recover, they offered their home.

The charity reports that she now investigates her surroundings, watches meal preparation and asks for more attention. She also changes her mind about which food she wants. Recovery has evidently left room for standards.

Bae remains in foster care. Her mouth problems can still flare up, and she continues to receive care.
