Galaxy, a five-week-old kitten found beneath a parked car in Queens, New York, has recovered from eye surgery and settled into a home with the family who rescued him.
The ASPCA reported that Naeema was finishing an early delivery round when she and her 12-year-old daughter, Marlow, heard the kitten crying. Marlow coaxed him out from beneath the car and named him Galaxy.
After confirming with a nearby customer that the kitten was a stray, Naeema decided he would join her family and their other cats. A closer look showed that his swollen left eye needed urgent attention, so she contacted the ASPCA Community Veterinary Clinic in Brooklyn.
The clinic’s Dr Shikha Thapa removed the damaged eye and the team also neutered Galaxy. Dr Thapa believed an untreated infection had caused the problem.
The ASPCA says Galaxy has now fully recovered from surgery. He is active, healthy and living with Naeema and Marlow, apparently approaching life with one eye and the usual kitten quantity of unnecessary speed.
