Jacklyn, an eight-year-old rescue cat, has a new home after more than a year in Lynchburg Humane Society’s care. The charity’s 7 October update confirms her adoption and shares her first explorations of the house.
She arrived in June 2025 after her owner died. Other cats from the same home were adopted while Jacklyn stayed behind. She spent time in foster care, then returned to the shelter this year.
Staff moved her to the quieter Green Sunroom and put her story on social media. A visitor who had recently lost her own older cat met Jacklyn and kept thinking about her. A veterinary technician who knew Jacklyn encouraged the match.
Her adopter reports that Jacklyn initially hid, then found her food and explored overnight. She also approached to sniff an offered hand. A small gesture, but a rather large development.
For anyone preparing for an arrival, our first-cat checklist covers the practical setup.
